Dr. Jorge Gil C. Angeles is a molecular biologist with interests on epigenetics/DNA methylation, promoters and codon usage. His various endeavors include researches and publications on coconut, papaya and rice biotechnology; coconut epigenetics; legumes for cardiovascular protection, drug phototoxicity and skin carcinogenesis, avian virology, codon usage, methylome analyses, and, systems biology and promoter analyses of oomycetes and beneficial plant fungi. He also obtained additional training on transgenerational Arabidopsis epigenetics. He is a member of graduate advisory committees to several MS and PhD students and serves a technical adviser to many undergraduate thesis students. He currently heads projects exploring the possible DNA methylation cues significant to the adaptation of the sole freshwater Sardinella tawilis to its present freshwater environment. He also teaches graduate courses on bioinformatics and epigenetics. He is the current Immediate Past President (Ex-officio) member of the Philippine Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology – Southern Luzon Chapter.
